LEAD PRODUCTION OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as Lead Production Operator to assist on equipment setup, troubleshooting and running production line operations.
- Assist and confirm proper set up of all production lines prior to start up; metal detector inspection, date code, materials, and supplies.
- Effectively review and understand all production schedules along with ensuring proper staffing is available that can perform the required tasks.
- Ensure that finished product is bagged, sealed, and palletized in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion on structurally sound pallets.
- Ensure samples of products, both prior and during packaging adhere to the required specifications; metal detector tests assuring the quality department is notified of any substandard condition.
- Ensure cleanliness in all packing areas, including hopper area above packers.
- Monitor feeding in of any product that did not meet specification back into the system to rework.
- Assist in the training of new and existing personnel in all facets of the production areas and lines.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance teams in daily dialog to maintain and improve processes, maintenance to achieve overall goal.
- Utilizes software for daily production reporting.
- Responsible for leading the shift in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
LEAD PRODUCTION OPERATOR QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 1-2 years in a demonstrated manufacturing environment involving decision making skills/problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and lead others.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, multitask, with the ability to read and write in English.
- Food manufacturing/processing experience, a plus.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Available to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends, and shift work may be required.
- Ability to perform activities in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, MEDB, Pack OEE.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires physical efforts such as straining, pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete floor.
- Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures.
- Extreme climate or climate variation.
- Heat up to 100 degrees and a low of 40 degrees.
- Changes of >30 degrees within a shift.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
- Climbing of ladders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
